Welcome to the Home of the Armed Services Judo and Jujitsu Academy (ASJJA)!

OUR HISTORY

The Armed Services Judo & Jujitsu Academy began in 1985 at Corry Station, Naval Technical Training Center, under the direction of Sensei H.G. Robby Robinson as the Armed Services "King Cobras" Judo Club. In 2005, the ASJJA was relocated to the Fred Smalley Youth Activities Center, Naval Air Station, Pensacola Florida. Within a relatively short period of time, the ASJJA grew into the largest Armed Services Judo Club in the United States.

OUR VISION

To increase the popularity of Kodokan Judo in the United States Armed Services through active duty, family members and community participation, and to achieve sustained competitive excellence in local, state, regional and national Judo competition.

OUR MISSION

The mission of the Armed Services Judo & Jujitsu Academy is to promote and support the sport of Judo, along with other martial arts, to provide a Community Quality of Life Program for all participants who will work together to make Judo a force in character development and educational growth for all practitioners.

OUR PHILOSOPHY

A martial arts system should be something that you can do in a safe and well supervised training environment.  Although you will have to be open to learning new things, all of the ideas and concepts that you learn are attainable to achieve your personal goals.

OUR GUIDING PRINCIPLES

- We provide a sports environment that cares for all, regardless of skills, potential or aspirations.

- All aspects of our dealings with students will be characterized by compliance with the United States Judo Association's Code of Ethics.

- We promote fair play among all students and instructors.

- We practice gender equality among all members and players.

- We promote and demand a drug and tobacco free environment.

- Armed Services Judo & Jujitsu Academy is a sports association which is open to all new participants, irrespective of ethnicity, race, religion, ability and socio-economic circumstances.

- Established age limitations are based upon mental and physical development with final evaluation and determination by the senior technical advisor.

OUR SYSTEM

Our teaching is based upon the traditional teachings of Professor Jigoro Kano, the originator of Kodokan Judo in 1882. Judo means, “Gentle Way or Path” and Jujitsu means the “Gentle Art”. However, don’t let the terms “Gentle” mislead you.

Since 1985, the ASJJA has been dedicated to teaching primarily military active duty, reservists, retirees and family members as well as members of law-enforcement agencies, educators, and other federal and local government officials. We are very serious about working out together as a family, to teach and learn how to defend ones self and cope in today’s society at large.

For active duty personnel and law-enforcement, we supplement organizational hand-to-hand combative close ground combat or law-enforcement training in a sport/recreational setting. Our training also lends itself towards reinforcing confidence building to maximize positive reaction to cope with “Immediate Problem Solving” or more succinctly speaking, “Decision Making Responses in Real Time Life-Saving Situations.”

We are a national and internationally known club with members scattered throughout the free world. Under the United States Judo Association we are currently a Class “A” Bronze Member Charter.

GENERAL INFORMATION

Students and enthusiasts of judo and jujitsu, men and women, boys and girls, have many reasons for their interest in this and other martial art styles. Some are drawn to the physical fitness and weight-loss aspects of training. Others seek to improve discipline and self control to their lives. Still many others are concerned about personal safety and self-defense. Often parents with over-energized children come seek us out and are delighted with the results.

Whether you are interested in our program for mental or physical well being, the “Warriors” Armed Services Judo & Jujitsu Academy (ASJJA) provides year-round training, offering a number of programs that will fit your developmental needs and your busy schedule as well. Monthly fees are minimal thanks to the volunteer contributions of the teaching staff.

SPECIALIZED ASJJA PROGRAMS

“WARRIOR TIGER CUBS” (AGES 4 TO 7)

The Warrior Tiger Cubs Program focuses on improving pre-school age children's basic motor and listening skills, and most assuredly by enhancing positive development in a fun and motivating way. The skills that are taught are intended towards the individual’s improvement reflecting physical and mental benefits so they can enter society with a more confident and enthusiastic outlook.

They will learn such skills as focusing, teamwork, control, balance, memory, discipline, fitness, cleanliness, and coordination.

These skills will help them to become better students at school, better listeners at home, and more ambitious about the future. The learning is fun, educational and rewarding.

No doubt these reasons and skills are rewarding enough, but The Warrior Tiger Cubs Program is designed to prepare your child for a love and lifetime of Judo. Our ultimate goal is to help your child be the best they can be at everything they put their minds to.

JUNIOR WARRIORS (UP TO AGE 17)  *  SENIOR WARRIORS (AGE 18 TO UNLIMITED)

The ASJJA Junior and Senior Programs are just two of many programs offered through the ASJJA. Seniors begin at age 18 and there are national provisions in place to cross-over junior belt ranks to senior designated ranks. This website provides contact numbers for those persons requesting additional information however we encourage you to become familiar with the resource information already provided. All of the coaches are volunteers and may not be readily available outside of teaching schedules.

Thank you for visiting our website, we hope that we have provided you with sufficient information to whet your appetite and to assist you in your search for a dedicated, well respected martial arts training facility.
